Authors : Sari Hassoun Salaheddine . Gassem Mohammed Fouad .

Abstract

This paper analyses the current situation of financial inclusion (FI) and digitalization in 98 countries in 2024, emphasizing their correlation with economic growth (GDP per capita or per capita income). The study utilizes recent cross-country data from Global Findex 2025 to create composite indexes for Financial Inclusion (FII) and Digitalization (DI). The analytical description indicates substantial differences among nations. Financial inclusion rates fluctuate between 9% and 72%, although digitalization levels span from 20% to 99%, underscoring enduring global disparities. Countries are categorized into clusters according to their performance levels, indicating that low-performing economies are primarily situated in developing regions, especially in North Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa, where structural impediments such as inadequate infrastructure, minimal digital penetration, and institutional deficiencies obstruct advancement. Concurrently, GDP per capita demonstrates significant disparity, varying from 453 to 24,963 US dollars, indicative of diverse levels of economic advancement. The results indicate a correlation relationship among digitalization, financial inclusion, and income levels, suggesting that nations with superior digital infrastructure and financial systems are likely to attain elevated economic development.
