Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping organizations, yet gender gaps in AI awareness may limit women’s engagement, particularly in developing economies. This study examines AI awareness among women in organizations, using the Algerian agrifood sector as an empirical context. Data were collected via a perception questionnaire administered to 150 women. Descriptive statistics, Multiple Correspondence Analysis, Principal Component Analysis, and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling were used to analyze patterns of awareness and their determinants. The findings indicate generally low-to-moderate AI awareness and limited practical experience, alongside cautious optimism about AI’s organizational benefits. AI awareness is driven primarily by experiential and attitudinal factors, actual AI use, perceived economic value, willingness to reskill, and perceived usefulness, rather than socio-demographic attributes or hierarchical position.
