Marital Silence As A Reflection Of Family Power Imbalances: A Sociological Study Of Wives' Attitudes In The City Of Souk Ahras.

Abstract
This study aims to explore the phenomenon of marital silence across its communicative, affective, and interactive dimensions among married women in the city of Souk Ahras. The primary objective is to investigate whether this relational withdrawal functions as a reflection of domestic power imbalances. Methodologically, the research adopted a descriptive approach, utilizing a standardized questionnaire administered to a targeted sample of sixty wives. The statistical results confirmed a moderate, yet significant, level of marital silence. The interactive dimension recorded the highest prevalence, primarily utilized as a mechanism for conflict evasion. Furthermore, the findings indicated no significant differences attributed to age or educational level. Conversely, a wife's financial superiority significantly heightened the severity of marital silence. Ultimately, the study concludes that marital silence acts as a passive-aggressive structural strategy reflecting disrupted power dynamics, rather than a mere communication deficit. تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى استكشاف ظاهرة الخرس الزوجي بأبعاده الثلاثة: الاتصالي، الوجداني، والتفاعلي لدى النساء المتزوجات بمدينة سوق أهراس. ويتمثل الهدف الرئيس في استقصاء ما إذا كان هذا الانسحاب يعمل كعكاس لعدم التوازن في موازين القوى الأسرية. من الناحية المنهجية، اعتمد البحث على المنهج الوصفي، باستخدام استبيان مقنن وُزع على عينة قصدية مكونة من ستين زوجة. وقد أكدت النتائج الإحصائية وجود مستوى متوسط، لكنه دال إحصائياً، من الصمت الزوجي؛ حيث سجل البعد التفاعلي أعلى معدلات الانتشار، كونه يُستخدم أساساً كآلية لـ تجنب الصراعات. علاوة على ذلك، أشارت النتائج إلى عدم وجود فروق ذات دلالة تعزى لمتغيري السن أو المستوى التعليمي. وفي المقابل، أدى التفوق المادي للزوجة إلى زيادة ملحوظة في حدة الصمت الزوجي. وتخلص الدراسة في النهاية إلى أن الصمت الزوجي يعمل كـ استراتيجية بنيوية عدوانية سلبية. تعكس اختلال ديناميكيات القوة، وليس مجرد عجز في مهارات التواصل.
