This scientific study aims to analyze the development of agricultural loans and agricultural output in Algeria over the period 2000–2023, as well as to estimate the statistical relationship between them during this period using the Vector Auto regression (VAR) model. In its theoretical framework, the study highlights the economic importance of agricultural loans. In its applied dimension, it concludes that there is no causal relationship between agricultural loans and agricultural output in either the short or the long run. This finding is supported by the statistical tests employed, namely the Granger causality test and the Johansen cointegration test. Moreover, the results of estimating the VAR(1) model indicate that changes in the volume of agricultural loans did not have a significant effect on agricultural output in Algeria during the period under study.
