Energy Transition In Algeria: The Reality Of Renewable Resource And Strategies For Achieving Security

Abstract
This study aims to highlight the current state and future prospects of renewable energy in Algeria, with a focus on its role in achieving energy security as one of the most prominent alternative energy approaches and optimal solutions to address the challenges posed by conventional energy sources facing the risk of depletion. Recognizing the importance of this issue, Algeria has sought to develop plans, policies, and legislation to promote the renewable energy sector, enhance the diversification of its energy sources, reduce risks threatening its energy security mitigate income losses resulting from energy imports, and reduce energy import reliance. The study concludes that despite numerous projects, Algerian renewable energy efforts remain insufficient and have not reached the level required to serve as an alternative to conventional energy or achieve energy security.
