Translanguaging is becoming a research trend. However, little is known about its impact on English as a foreign language (EFL) students' speaking skills. This study aims at exploring the impact of translanguaging by information gap activities on EFL undergraduates. In this mixed-methods action research, the students were asked to translate Arabic story excerpts into English and share them with the class then orally summarize the whole story in English. The researchers also used classroom observation, students’ feedback, interviews, and focus group. The collected data were thematically analyzed. The findings indicated that translanguaging may improve students’ attention, create fun learning environments, enhance vocabulary learning and retention, foster diction, improve accuracy and enhance speaking. the results also revealed that EFL students hold positive attitudes towards the integration of translanguaging in the classroom. These results require further research on the impact of translanguaging.
