Endowment Inscriptions And Their Contribution In Recording The History Of The Central Maghreb: The Endowments Of Tlemcen’s Mosques As A Case Study

الملخص

أُشتهرت تلمسان بإعتبارها من كبريات حواضر المغرب الأوسط والجزائر خلال العصر الوسيط، والتي أسهمت في الحضارة العربية الإسلامية عموما، والمغاربية على وجه الخصوص، وقد حفظ تاريخها، ومآثر حكامها، وصدارة علو كعب علمائها، وعجيب عمرانها في العديد من الوسائط المادية والشفوية، سواء بأنامل وذاكرة ساكنتها ونخبها، أو من الرحالة والعلماء الذين زاروها وانبهروا بمعالمها، وإن كانت الكثير من معالمها قد لامسها الإندثار فإن ما تبقى منها قد نجى لاسيما النقوش الوقفية، وهي تعتبر من أدق الوسائط للتعريف، وأبعدها عن التحريف والتزييف. من هذه الأهمية لهذه الوسائط المتبقية في تاريخ تلمسان الحضارية الوسيطة جاء موضوع هذه الدراسة موسوما ب: ''النقوش الوقفية ومكانتها في تدوين تاريخ المغرب الأوسط: وقفيات مساجد تلمسان أنموذجا '' سنتطرق في هذه الدراسة إلى المحاور التالية: • الوقفيات في الإسلام: وسائط تاريخية ومعالم حضارية. • مساجد تلمسان: التأسيس، الدور، التحولات. • النقوش الوقفية: مادة تاريخية وأعجوبة أثرية. Among the key reasons for the prominence of Tlemcen during the medieval period lies in its status as one of the major urban centers of the Central Maghreb and Algeria as well. The city made a distinguished contribution to Arab-Islamic and Maghribi civilization, and its history, the legacy of its rulers, the eminence of its scholars, and the splendor of its architecture have been preserved through a variety of material and oral sources. These include the testimonies of its own residents and elites, as well as the accounts of travelers and scholars who visited and admired its monuments. Although many of Tlemcen’s architectural monuments have vanished, , some have endured; notably the endowment (waqf) inscriptions, which represent one of the most reliable documentary sources, largely immune to distortion or falsification. Given the importance of these surviving inscriptions for understanding the civilization of medieval Tlemcen, the present study is entitled: “Endowment Inscriptions and Their Contribution in Recording the History of the Central Maghreb: The Endowments of Tlemcen’s Mosques as a Case Study”. This study will shed light on the following themes: • Endowments in Islam: Historical Sources and Civilizational Markers • Tlemcen’s Mosques: Foundation, Role, and Transformation • Endowment Inscriptions: Historical Evidence and Archaeological Wonders
