U.s. Vetoes And Possible Alternatives To Formal Palestinian Un Membership In 2024

Abstract
At the commencement of each session of the United Nations General Assembly, Palestinians and the international community occasionally reiterate their demands for Palestine to be admitted as a full member of the United Nations. However, these appeals have consistently been unsuccessful. This article examines the legal avenues available to a Palestinian state seeking full membership of the United Nations, given that the United States has exercised its veto power to prevent any draft resolution that would elevate Palestine's status to full membership. في بداية كل دورة من دورات الجمعية العامة للأمم المتحدة، يكرر الفلسطينيون والمجتمع الدولي من حين لآخر مطالبهم بقبول فلسطين كعضو كامل العضوية في الأمم المتحدة. غير أن هذه النداءات لم تنجح باستمرار. يتناول هذا المقال السُبل القانونية المتاحة أمام الدولة الفلسطينية الساعية للحصول على العضوية الكاملة في الأمم المتحدة، بالنظر إلى أن الولايات المتحدة مارست حق النقض (الفيتو) لمنع أي مشروع قرار من شأنه أن يرفع مكانة فلسطين إلى العضوية الكاملة.
