؟ Salim Abbadou’s *Far from the Eyes* presents the harrowing experience of a French intellectual who opposed colonial policies and was subsequently arrested by French intelligence services, ultimately dying under torture while the authorities denied responsibility for his disappearance. The novel situates itself within the broader framework of representing the silenced or marginalized aspects of the Algerian War of Liberation. As such, it assumes critical significance in exposing and deconstructing colonial discourse. The narrative poses a central question: how does the novel articulate a counter-discourse in opposition to colonial ideology? Through the voices of French individuals who bear witness to the savagery of their own government in suppressing a revolution grounded in the demands for freedom, dignity, and the right to self-determination, the novel offers a powerful indictment of colonial hegemony and affirms the legitimacy of anti-colonial struggle
