Transsexualism: Therapeutic Necessity Or Psychological Disorder?

Abstract
Medical progress has profoundly influenced social realities, leading to greater involvement of legal professionals in complex and sensitive matters. Among these issues is transsexualism “Sex change”, a phenomenon that has gained global attention, including in Arab and Islamic societies. The reasons for undergoing sex-related surgery differ across individuals. In some cases, it stems from gender identity disorder, where a person seeks physical change to match their psychological identity. In other situations, medical necessity justifies intervention, particularly for intersex individuals requiring corrective procedures to ensure biological and physical consistency.
