This article contextualizes the Black Lives Matter BLM movement as the latest chapter in a 400-year struggle against systemic exclusion, tracing its lineage from slavery through Jim Crow to modern mass incarceration. Founded in 2013 following the George Zimmerman acquittal, BLM is distinguished by its decentralized, "leader-full" structure that centers Black queer feminist perspectives. It highlights the movement's strategic use of digital media to bypass traditional gatekeepers and expose police brutality globally. The analysis covers BLM’s profound political impact, including its influence on the 2020 U.S. election and its expansion into a transnational force across 60 countries. While addressing critiques regarding financial transparency, the article concludes that by 2026, BLM has evolved from reactive protest into an institutional "long-game" strategy aimed at establishing a true "Abolitionist Democracy."
