Abstract

Abstract: The study addresses the topic of trade relations between the Far East and the Islamic West in the Middle Ages. From a historical perspective, this is of paramount importance for understanding the backgrounds of the formation of historical relations. This requires a re-reading of various historical sources to monitor the most important trade routes, particularly the Silk Road and commercial exchanges, and the implications of all this for cultural and civilizational exchanges between the Islamic West and the Far East. This enables us to analyze the development of current events, including China's attempt to revive the Silk Road within the framework of what is known as the "soft narrative.
