The Dialectic Of Rejection And Belonging In Contemporary Algerian Poetry: An Analytical Study Of Selected Poetic Models

Authors : Reghmit Mohamed .

Abstract

Abstract: The article investigates the dialectical problem of rejection and belonging in contemporary Algerian poetry, one of the major features that characterize the Algerian poetic discourse within the contexts of the historical, social, and political transformations that Algeria has witnessed. This analysis is based on the study of selected poetic models that embody the values of rejection and belonging. Rejection has developed itself on many scopes: the rejection of the mentalities, social attitudes, political ideologies; the other value is the belonging to the homeland, identity, and values coming from the liberation revolution. The research concludes that it is the dialectical interaction between these two values, rejection and belonging, that endows Algerian poetry with its distinctive character, being the mirror of the relationships between the poet and the political, social, cultural, and identity-related realities. The method utilized in the study is a descriptive and analytical one that gives an insight into the phenomenon under study.
