Abstract: As part of the global effort to achieve a sustainable energy transition, Algeria launched the National Renewable Energy Program in 2011 with the goal of promoting investments in renewable energy sources, ensuring energy security, and reducing dependence on fossil fuels. This study aims to assess Algeria's progress in achieving the program’s objectives and identify the obstacles it faces by analyzing the latest statistics on renewable energy production rates for 2023. The results indicate that, despite Algeria's significant potential in this field, financial, technical, and regulatory challenges remain major barriers. In this context, the study highlights the necessity of developing renewable energy infrastructure and enhancing both local and international investments to ensure the success of renewable energy projects and achieve sustainable development.
