The rapid pace of career development and the existence of intense competition among students in searching for jobs: online or at workplace, led students to feel the need to extend their skills, either in their field of study or unrelated. Consequently, online education might provide a set of opportunities to the students to be enrolled in a variety of e-courses which might help them develop new skills and upgrade their already acquired ones. As no studies addressed this issue in the Algerian EFL context, this study tries to address the gap in research in this area through describing the role of online education can take in order to lead students to upskilling and reskilling. To achieve this aim, a descriptive design is followed, with a questionnaire is administered to 55 randomly selected students of English from different levels at University of Bejaia. The study, then, revealed that online education provided the students with spare time to take on different part-time jobs and develop their competencies in English and in other fields. Some students revealed that they have discovered new free platforms where they could learn what they like such as fine art, other foreign languages and even subjects like marketing and e-business.
