This paper investigates the pivotal role of translation in the propagation of disinformation within media ecosystems. Examining real-world case studies & integrating theoretical frameworks from translation studies & media analysis, the study seeks to reveal the mechanisms through which translation is exploited to advance specific agendas, alter original messages, & shape public opinion. The research underscores the ethical dilemmas faced by translators & emphasizes the urgent need for increased transparency & accountability in translation practices, particularly in media contexts where misinformation can have far-reaching societal consequences. The findings aim to contribute to a deeper understanding of the intersection between language, power, & media, while advocating for ethical guidelines to mitigate the misuse of translation in disinformation campaigns.
