This research investigates the actual independence of Algeria's audiovisual regulatory authority amidst rapid legal and digital transformations. Using a comparative analytical approach, it traces the legislative evolution from Organic Law No 12-05 and Law No 14-04 to Law No 23-20. The study reveals that while the Algerian legislator has significantly advanced towards establishing this authority's independence, particularly with Law No 23-20, challenges persist. These include issues with member appointment mechanisms and financial dependence. Furthermore, digital media's impact has introduced unprecedented legal and regulatory hurdles, demanding a radical adaptation of the authority's supervisory role.
