Authors : Bouguenous Abdellah . Benadda Abdelouahid .

Abstract

English for Science and Technology (EST) is a subcategory of English for Specific Purposes (ESP). It is an approach to English language teaching specifically designed for students studying science and technology. EST focuses on educating students in English tailored to their needs in the scientific and technological fields. The present study concentrates on the Science and Technology Faculty at the University of Relizane, with the objective of investigating the effectiveness of English courses for EST students and determining the primary challenges they face in acquiring ESP skills. The study, based on a questionnaire survey, revealed that EST students recognize the crucial role of effective EST courses for their academic success and future careers. However, the courses currently offered by instructors at their faculty do not adequately address their language and learning needs. At the end, the research proposes successful strategies for instructing science and technology students in learning English.
