Perceptions Of Ai-based Assessment For Formative Writing In Efl: Evidence From Algerian Teachers

Abstract

Artificial intelligence (AI) has made important advances in a variety of disciplines, including education. With the growth of AI technology, intelligent systems that aid in language assessment are now possible. This research paper explores the potential of AI in EFL formative writing assessment. The researchers will discuss the role of AI in EFL writing assessment in the view of teachers. This study aims to investigate AI-based assessment methods that enhance the effectiveness of formative assessment practices in EFL writing instruction, utilizing a questionnaire for data collection from a sample of fifteen teachers from different universities in Algeria. Results indicated that the participants were generally positive about the use of Artificial Intelligence-based methods to assess their students' writing skills.
