The digital economy has become a central driver of industrial transformation and sustainable development in the twenty-first century. Its integration into industrial systems allows for enhanced efficiency, innovation, and competitiveness, while also contributing to environmental sustainability and inclusive growth. This analytical article explores how the digital economy can act as a catalyst for sustainable industrial development in Algeria. It examines the theoretical foundations of the digital-industrial relationship, assesses Algeria’s progress in digital transformation, and analyzes the potential impacts of digitalization on industrial productivity and sustainability. The study also highlights key barriers such as limited digital infrastructure, financial constraints, and skill shortages, which continue to hinder full digital integration in the industrial sector. Based on the analysis, strategic pathways are proposed to strengthen the digital-industrial nexus through innovation ecosystems, human capital development, and policy coordination. The findings suggest that leveraging the digital economy can significantly enhance Algeria’s industrial resilience, improve resource efficiency, and support its transition toward a knowledge-based and sustainable economic model.
