The data collection includes the analysis of a total of one hundred (100) messages posted by students whom are actively using the e-learning platform, these messages are posted from 2021 to 2022 relying on Brown and Levinson’s politeness theory, the study takes place in a virtual context (e-learning platform) of the Department of English at Mouloud Mammeri University of Tizi Ouzou (UMMTO). The findings reveal that Algerian university students do use politeness strategies in the e-learning platform, and they tend to use the four identified strategies introduced by Brown and Levisnon in their theory, which are as follow; positive and negative politeness, bald-on-record and off-record politeness strategies.
