Economic concentrations represent one of the most important types of economic concentration regulated by the Algerian legislator in Competition Law 03-03, as amended and supplemented. This paper addresses the types of concentrations regulated by the Algerian legislator, namely merger, corporate grouping, and the establishment of a joint venture. Given that economic concentrations can affect market competition, it was imperative for the Algerian legislator to regulate them with conditions to benefit from them and avoid their drawbacks. The conditions stipulated are that they must not harm competition, meaning they do not reach the threshold mentioned in Article 18 and that they are not among the prohibited practices mentioned in the same law. Additionally, supervision by the concerned sector was required for entities wishing to consolidate within certain sectors, not all.
