Study Of Stress Factors Among Counter Clerks In Municipal Services

Authors : Toumi Samira .

Abstract

This article addresses the occupational stress experienced by counter clerks in municipal services. It aims to identify the stress level these employees are exposed to and determine the factors contributing to such stress. The study adopts Karasek's model to explore the relationship between stress exposure and the model's three dimensions: psychological demand, autonomy, and social support. The results of the study showed that all members of the sample, consisting of 52 employees, are exposed to a high level of stress during their work. The statistical analysis showed that the one-sample t-test was significant. The source of stress can be attributed to all dimensions measured by the Karasek scale (psychological demand, degree of autonomy and decision-making, and social support at work). Regarding the relationship between the overall stress level and the three dimensions of the scale, Pearson's correlation coefficient indicated statistically significant relationships for all dimensions. This suggests that stress among municipal employees is attributable to psychological demand, autonomy and decision-making, and the availability of social support at work.
