The Lexical Repertoire Of The Arabic Language In The Second-grade Primary Curriculum: An Analytical Study Based On The Arabic Lexical Repertoire Dictionary

Abstract

Abstract: This study aims to evaluate the lexical repertoire of the Arabic language in second-grade primary education, due to its importance in developing competencies. This evaluation was based on the Arabic Lexical Repertoire Dictionary of the Arab League Educational Organisation. By describing and analysing texts, comparing them with the Arabic Lexical Repertoire Dictionary, and assessing them based on learners’ comprehension and appropriateness, we found that lexical repertoire is not only words but also knowledge and culture. Although curriculum designers give attention to it, it still requires greater precision in selection and facilitation. Therefore, we recommend relying on common Arabic dictionaries in curricula preparation.
