Recently, many studies, books, and publications have rekindled the value of Arab-Islamic civilization in Andalusia and its relevance to Europe and the West in general. Was Europe really steeped in darkness? Was Christianity not open to the Greco-Roman heritage? Was Islam the representative of illumination and enlightenment? The French historian Sylvain Guggenheim believes that nearly all the translators of the Greek scientific heritage and philosophy into Arabic were Syriac Christians. Therefore, the translation process occurred from Greek into Syriac and then from Syriac into Arabic. Another hypothesis suggests that communications between Latin Europe and the Greek Byzantine world were not interrupted, allowing manuscripts of both Greek science and philosophy to reach Europe without intermediaries. This study aims to shed light on these allegations to evaluate them scientifically and historically, emphasizing the necessity of advancing Andalusian studies to match the depth of what is written and compiled in Europe. Following a comparative analytical investigative approach, this research has been conducted by tracking and examining the opinions of Western scholars, analyzing them, and comparing them with one another, linking them to historical events and cultural achievements. Ultimately, it seeks a more scientific and realistic outcome, free of the ideological provisions often imposed by religious intolerance.
