Abstract

The study's objective is to reveal the level of social tolerance among students of some Sudanese universities in light of the April 15, 2023 war, and to identify the differences in the level of social tolerance according to the variables of student gender, age, and academic level. The sample size was 356 students from public universities, including 151 male students and 205 female students. To collect the study data, the researchers used the social tolerance scale prepared by Bakheet (2023), where the reliability of the scale was measured using Cronbach's alpha (0.814) and Spearman-Brown (0.721).The study reached the following conclusions: The level of social tolerance among Sudanese university students in the sample is weak, and there are significant differences in social tolerance according to the gender variable in favor of females. There are differences in social tolerance according to the age variable, with social tolerance being higher in the age group of 22-24 years. There are differences in social tolerance according to the academic level variable, with social tolerance being higher among first-year university students.The researchers conclude from the study results that the level of social tolerance among Sudanese university students in the sample is weak, and that females are more tolerant than males, which means that university students need to enhance the value of social tolerance through psychological awareness programs.
