الملخص
تباينت أوصاف الرحالة في الكتابة عن بلاد السودان الغربي وقد ركزت كتب الرحلات على ذكر طباع أهل السودان وصفاتهم من تقديم معلومات مفيدة للقارئ؛ فكان كل رحالة يجوب مناطق وأقاليم تهمه، يعرف بها وبطبيعتها، وطبيعة سكانها. صحيح أن بعضهم شرّق وغرب في الأراضي العربية والإسلامية، لكن خطواتهم ساقتهم شمالاً وجنوباً إلى معالم يعسر الوصول إليها، ولاسيما بلاد السودان التي نتعطش إلى معرفتها كتعطش سكانها إلى الماء. The descriptions of travelers varied in writing about the countries of Western Africa. The travel books focused on mentioning the nature and characteristics of the people of Sudan in order to provide useful information to the reader; Every traveler was roaming areas and regions of interest to him, knowing them and their nature, and the nature of their inhabitants. It is true that some of them were east and west in the Arab and Islamic lands, but their steps led them north and south to landmarks that are difficult to reach, especially the countries of Sudan, which we thirst for knowledge as their inhabitants thirst for water.
