Abstract: Following the arrival of the French army and the ratification of the capitulation treaty in 1830, Algeria experienced a substantial influx of French settlers and other European populations, as the French government actively promoted migration to Algeria to establish a society capable of enforcing social control. Social relations between the Algerians and the French settlers were marked by tension and deep conflict due to France's colonial policies aimed at controlling land and resources to serve the colonizers. This led to the social and economic marginalization of the Algerians, despite some limited interactions in economic and service sectors. The class difference was not solely a result of the occupation; it served as the catalyst for resentment and popular insurrection among the Algerians, ultimately leading to a liberation revolution that dismantled oppression and proclaimed Algeria's independence.
