Abstract: International practice has settled that diplomatic envoys of diplomatic missions to the state to which they are accredited enjoy a set of immunities and privileges on its territory, which guarantees them a privileged status to carry out the tasks assigned to them without being subject to any pressures or prosecutions while performing their duties that would prevent them from doing so. This is the subject of this study, through which we aim to identify the immunities of diplomatic missions guaranteed under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of 1961. As long as the host state of the diplomatic mission adheres to its duties in upholding the immunities and privileges of this mission, there is no problem here. However, the problem arises in the event that the diplomatic mission does not adhere to the limits of its assigned tasks and functions, thus going beyond the scope of legitimacy in performing its duties and exploiting its diplomatic immunities in illegal matters that lead to compromising the national security of the host state, which has now become the main concern of all countries. Hence, the problem of the study was: Are the immunities of diplomatic missions guaranteed to them by the Vienna Convention absolute or are there restrictions on them? And if there are restrictions, do they conflict with the Vienna Convention? To what extent can these immunities be reconciled with the restrictions imposed on them? Accordingly, we relied on the descriptive approach to describe the types of immunities of diplomatic missions, while utilizing the analytical approach to analyze the texts of the Vienna Convention. We ultimately concluded that the immunities of diplomatic missions were approved by the Vienna Convention of 1961 for the performance of their diplomatic duties. However, these immunities are restricted in the event of violations that threaten the national security of the state to which they are accredited, which enables them to take deterrent legal measures to preserve their security
