Universal Health Coverage As A Sustainable Development Goal: An Analytical Study Of Economic And Health Indicators In Algeria

Abstract

This study examines the state of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in Algeria through a descriptive analysis of key economic and health indicators. The findings reveal significant progress in multiple dimensions of sustainable development, including the implementation of economic reform programs, higher levels of basic education, and a decline in poverty rates. However, an increase in greenhouse gas emissions (CO₂) was also observed. Regarding universal health coverage, WHO measurement indicators show notable improvements in health service quality, higher government health expenditures, and an expansion of social protection coverage, as reported by the National Social Security Fund. The study concludes with several key recommendations, including promoting economic diversification to mitigate financial crises, investing in renewable energy, enhancing community-based healthcare services in remote areas, and raising awareness of health insurance as a fundamental pillar of social protection. تتناول هذه الدراسة واقع التنمية المستدامة والتغطية الصحية الشاملة في الجزائر من خلال التحليل الوصفي للمؤشرات الاقتصادية والصحية الرئيسية. وتكشف النتائج عن تقدم كبير في الأبعاد المتعددة للتنمية المستدامة، بما في ذلك تنفيذ برامج الإصلاح الاقتصادي، وارتفاع مستويات التعليم الأساسي، وانخفاض معدلات الفقر. ومع ذلك، لوحظت أيضًا زيادة في انبعاثات (CO2). وفيما يتعلق بالتغطية الصحية الشاملة، تظهر مؤشرات قياس منظمة الصحة العالمية تحسنات ملحوظة في جودة الخدمات الصحية، وارتفاع الإنفاق الصحي الحكومي، وتوسيع نطاق تغطية الحماية الاجتماعية، كما أفاد الصندوق الوطني للضمان الاجتماعي. وتختتم الدراسة بعدة توصيات رئيسية، أهمها تعزيز التنويع الاقتصادي للتخفيف من حدة الأزمات المالية، والاستثمار في الطاقة المتجددة، وتعزيز خدمات الرعاية الصحية الاساسية في المناطق النائية، وزيادة التحسيس بضرورة التأمين الصحي باعتباره ركيزة أساسية للحماية الاجتماعية.
