Authors : Omane Ahmed . Ferhat Abdelkrim .

Abstract

Abstract: This study examines the development of the Algerian economy at the turn of the third millennium, analyzing both its potential for growth and the stages involved in this process. It also explores the challenges and prospects related to achieving economic takeoff. All economic recovery and growth programs implemented in Algeria between 2001 and the first half of 2024 are critically evaluated. The findings indicate that Algeria possesses significant potential to achieve economic takeoff, leveraging various factors. These include capitalizing on hydrocarbon resources to foster value-added investments, focusing on renewable energy, creating an attractive investment climate through legal reforms, promoting self-entrepreneurship, establishing business incubators to support entrepreneurs, and diversifying projects beyond the hydrocarbon sector. Moreover, the study underscores the importance of continued support for the services sector and the integration of scientific advancements in agriculture and the food industry.
