Protection Of Forests In International Law

الكاتب : بوسراج زهرة .

الملخص

Forests are critical ecosystems that provide vital services such as biodiversity preservation, climate regulation, and soil protection. Despite their importance, they face significant threats like deforestation and illegal logging, leading to environmental damage and worsening climate change. Countries have attempted to classify forests as part of the common heritage of humanity to ensure their protection. However, the international community has yet to establish a binding agreement to safeguard them effectively. This study examines the status of forests within international environmental law. It also assesses the effectiveness of current legal mechanisms in addressing these ongoing threats.
