African countries are highly vulnerable to climate change due to their low development levels. Under the UNFCCC's principle of "common but differentiated responsibilities," wealthy nations are required to fund adaptation efforts in developing countries. This article examines expanding adaptation measures to include the protection of internally displaced persons. It suggests that climate finance could support African agreements, such as the 2009 Kampala Convention, ensuring that funds address displacement caused by climate change. This approach aligns with the fair distribution of responsibilities for climate-related impacts.
