Authors : Bechiche Hana . Boudouda Nedjem Eddine .

Abstract

In psychology, the family is considered a living and complex system, unique due to each family's differences. Its formation is constantly changing, and the members of the system evolve their roles over time, making it a crucial focus for research in systemic psychopathology. Researchers in this field have noted that families grow and navigate various conflicts. How families coexist and adapt to these crises plays a significant role in shaping their identity. Systematic approaches to family dynamics illuminate the complexity of relational networks in which children develop and highlight the importance of personal relationships for their psychological growth. In the contemporary digital age, families face unique challenges that impact their psychological well-being. This paper explores the intricate dynamics of family systems and the increasing prevalence of internet disorders, including internet addiction, gaming disorder, and social media addiction, examining how these conditions contribute to family stress and disrupt familial relationships. By investigating the systemic psychopathology of families, we highlight how constant connectivity and excessive screen time exacerbate existing conflicts and create new psychological stressors. This intervention sheds light on key concepts and models in family psychology, focusing on the relational networks within families and their susceptibility to internet disorders. We also discuss clinical psychopathological phenomena associated with internet disorders, such as anxiety, depression, social withdrawal, and the erosion of face-to-face communication skills, and their effects on family members. Additionally, the paper addresses how these disorders can lead to increased parental stress, sibling rivalry, and overall family discord.
