Algeria is undergoing a significant transition towards renewable energy, with an ambitious goal of achieving 22,000 MW of capacity by 2030, primarily through solar power. This study examines the impact of regulatory frameworks on the deployment of renewable energy, focusing on the Tafouk 1 solar power plant. The central research question explores how Algeria's regulatory environment affects renewable energy projects. The methodology involves a comprehensive analysis of Algeria’s regulatory policies, comparisons with successful international examples, and case studies of key projects. Key findings indicate that, despite supportive policies, Algeria faces significant barriers such as bureaucratic inefficiencies, financial constraints, and technical challenges. Comparisons with other countries reveal best practices, including clear policy goals, centralized efforts, financial incentives, and public-private partnerships, which Algeria can adopt to enhance its regulatory framework and effectively transition to renewable energy.
