Abstract: This research paper seeks to present an alternative perspective on the dialogical and interactive nature of the relationship between the poles of the "Ego" and the "Other." This relationship oscillates between convergence and attraction by transcending the initial dominant discourse, which is steeped in a colonial mindset that limits references to a subcategory that implicitly suggests the inferiority of the "Other's" texts compared to the exemplary texts of the "Ego." This need arises from a re-examination of the pivotal theme of "cultural interaction" in postcolonial translation theory, which is one of the ways to illustrate contact zones—those social spaces where disparate cultures meet, clash, and grapple with each other within asymmetrical power relations. Additionally, it unveils the traditional roles laden with inherent biases within the act of translation, particularly concerning its relatively innocent sole objective of establishing a synergistic bond where cultures merge. Initially, scholars might perceive no apparent connections between translation as a process of conveying the layered meanings embedded in texts and the imperialistic intermediary dimension that the translation process has often colluded with and promoted as an alternative to knowledge exchange and cultural intermingling.
