Privatization Of Public Economic Institutions In Algeria: Necessity And Choice

Abstract

Privatization of public economic institutions represents a critical strategy for restructuring the national economy by integrating the private sector. In Algeria, privatization emerged as a fiscal imperative due to the challenges encountered by the authorities in the late 1980s, compounded by obligations to the International Monetary Fund. The privatization process encompasses various methodologies, from market-based mechanisms like stock exchanges to non-market approaches, including tendering and consensual agreements.
