Abstract: Human activities have increasingly exploited the environment to meet growing needs, leading to rising environmental pollution and serious risks to human life. The environment—comprising water, air, and soil—forms the foundation of life, and any imbalance in these elements disrupts ecological stability. Irresponsible practices have caused significant environmental damage, some of which is difficult to reverse. In response, legislation serves as a key tool for regulating activities and protecting the environment by defining prohibited acts that harm natural resources and biodiversity. Environmental crime has thus emerged as an important legal issue. This study examines whether criminal law directly intervenes, through explicit legal provisions, to protect the environment.
