Abstract:This study addresses a subject that is still unfolding within a context governed by asymmetrical balances of power that encouraged the initiation of war against Iran. Despite the disparity in military capabilities and the strength of the opposing coalition, Iran managed to overcome these constraints through an asymmetric approach enabled by the equation of composite deterrence it imposed. Amid these developments, the media arena emerged as an active field of parallel confrontation, no less intense than the battlefield itself. Our analysis focuses particularly on the extensive use of symbols throughout this conflict. Following a brief description of its general context and a theoretical-conceptual discussion of deterrence, symbolism, status, and reputation, we sought to examine the impact of the symbolism of status and reputation in international relations and, more specifically, in the context of this war. Prior to that, we also explored the potential relationship between the enduring traits of President Trump's personality and the notions of status and reputation within the framework of this conflict.
