Algerian emergency literature emerged during the violent context of the 1990s Black Decade. Based on testimony, denunciation, and resistance, it enabled writers to give voice to collective trauma and preserve memory. This literary movement also encouraged the emergence of new voices, particularly women writers, and fostered a significant literature of exile. Today, it stands as a major chapter in Algerian literary history, marked by a legacy that oscillates between recognition and oblivion.
