This study seeks to shed light on the issue of virtual assets, which raises many legal challenges, most notably the difficulty of subjecting them to oversight, the possibility of exploiting them for money laundering, terrorist financing, and tax evasion, as well as problems related to protecting dealers and proving transactions. In Algeria, the legislator's position has shifted from partial prohibition to explicit criminalization. Law No. 25-10, amending and supplementing the Law on the Prevention of Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism, criminalizes the issuance, purchase, sale, use, possession, and promotion of virtual assets. This reflects the adoption of a preventive criminal policy aimed at protecting the national economy and enhancing financial security in the face of risks arising from these assets.
