الملخص
يقدم هذا المقال دراسة بيوغرافية للمسار الأكاديمي للمؤرخ الجزائري "محمد البشير شنيتي"، متتبعاً مولده ونشأته في بلدة "مجانة" مروراً بمحطات تكوينه بمدينة الجزائر خلال الثورة التحريرية، وصولاً إلى استقراره بجامعة الجزائر التي قضى بها قرابة خمسة عقود بين الدراسة والتدريس والبحث تقلد خلالها مناصب إدارية رفيعة، ويسلط الضوء أكثر على إنتاجه العلمي الغزير في تاريخ الجزائر القديم، مبرزاً تميزه كأحد أعمدة المدرسة التاريخية الجزائرية، وتتأسس إشكالية هذا المقال على التساؤل التالي: من هو المؤرخ محمد البشير شنيتي؟ وماهي أبرز المحطات الرئيسية في مسيرته العلمية والمهنية؟ This article provides a biographical study of the academic career of the prominent Algerian historian, Mohamed El Bachir Cheniti. It traces his early life and upbringing in the town of Medjana, follows his formative educational years in Algiers during the Liberation Revolution, and examines his ultimate establishment at the University of Algiers. Over nearly five decades at this institution, spanning his time as a student, professor, and researcher, he held prestigious administrative positions. Furthermore, the study sheds light on his prolific scholarly output in ancient Algerian history, highlighting his prominence as one of the pillars of the Algerian historical school. Accordingly, the central thesis of this paper addresses the following questions: Who is the historian Mohamed El Bachir Cheniti? And what are the defining milestones in his scholarly and professional career? Cet article propose une étude biographique du parcours académique de l'historien algérien "Mohamed El Bachir Cheniti". Il retrace sa naissance et son enfance dans la commune de "Medjana", examine les étapes de sa formation à Alger durant la Révolution de libération nationale, jusqu'à son établissement à l'Université d'Alger. Au sein de cette institution, il a passé près de cinq décennies, oscillant entre études, enseignement et recherche, tout en occupant de hautes fonctions administratives. L'accent est mis particulièrement sur sa prolifique production scientifique dédiée à l'histoire ancienne de l'Algérie, mettant en relief sa stature de pilier de l'école historique algérienne. Dès lors, la problématique de cet article s'articule autour des questionnements suivants: Qui est l'historien Mohamed El Bachir Cheniti? Et quelles sont les étapes majeures qui ont jalonné sa carrière scientifique et professionnelle?
