Challenges Of Implementing The Koha Software In Iraqi University Libraries: The Central Library At The University Of Babylon As A Case Study

الملخص
المستخلص تناولت الدراسة وضع خطة وتصور لمواجهة تحديات تطبيق نظام كوها مفتوح المصدر في المكتبات العراقية، بهدف تحسين كفاءة وجودة الخدمات المكتبية وتقليل التكاليف المرتبطة بالأنظمة الحالية. واستخدمت الدراسة المنهج الوصفي التحليلي. تناولت الاستبانة الجانب العملي من خلال ثلاثة محاور، بواقع خمسة أسئلة لكل محور، وبمجموع (15) سؤالاً وجهت إلى (15) خبيراً من الملاك العامل في المكتبة المركزية لجامعة بابل. وأظهرت النتائج وجود تحديات تقنية ومالية وبشرية تواجه تطبيق النظام، وأبرزها: نقص الملاك الوظيفي المؤهل، والحاجة إلى التدريب المستمر، وضعف الدعم الفني، وصعوبة إدخال البيانات وتحديث البرنامج. وأكد الخبراء فاعلية نظام كوها في تحسين الخدمات الجامعية، ودعوا إلى تعميم تجربته في جميع المكتبات الجامعية. وخلصت الدراسة إلى أن تطبيق النظام يمكن أن يؤدي إلى تحسين إدارة الموارد وتيسير الوصول إلى المعلومات وزيادة رضا المستفيدين. وأوصت الدراسة بتنفيذ خطة وطنية من وزارة التعليم العالي لتعميم البرنامج مع توفير التمويل والبنية التحتية، وتأهيل الملاكات من خلال دورات تدريبية بالتعاون مع مكتبة العتبة العباسية، وبناء فرق عمل كفوءة داخل كل مكتبة جامعية. الكلمات المفتاحية : نظام كوها، المكتبات الجامعية، التحديات والمعوقات. Abstract This study aimed to develop a plan and vision to address the challenges of implementing the Koha open-source system in Iraqi libraries. The goal was to improve the efficiency and quality of library services, as well as reduce the costs associated with the current system. The study employed a descriptive-analytical methodology. A questionnaire was used to address the practical aspects of the research, consisting of three sections, each with five questions, totaling fifteen questions directed to fifteen experts at the Central Library of the University of Babylon. The results indicated the existence of technical, financial, and human resource challenges. The most significant were the shortage of qualified staff, lack of ongoing training, inadequate technical support, and difficulty in data entry and software updates. Experts confirmed the effectiveness of Koha in improving university services and urged officials to expand its implementation. The study concluded that implementing Koha can improve resource management, facilitate access to information, and increase user satisfaction. It recommended that the Ministry of Higher Education implement a national plan to expand the Koha program, provide necessary funding and infrastructure, and train staff in cooperation with the Abbasid Shrine Library.
