Authors : Nouri Aziz . Slimane Samira .

Abstract

The media is considered one of the most influential sources in shaping images, owing to the advanced capabilities and technologies it now possesses, which have enabled it to attract millions of viewers. Through repetition, these images transform into stereotypes that define the nature of the relationship with the “other,” depending on whether the image presented is positive or negative. The impact may even extend to the adoption of unfavorable decisions based on an incorrect image. Accordingly, media imagery plays a crucial role in the perceptual process of its recipients—whether policymakers or the general public. The image tends to be positive when relations with the other are good, and negative when relations are strained. Such media-produced images become a social problem when a group collectively adopts and believes in them, resulting in a form of social exclusion directed toward the other group.
