In this paper, the author examines financial inclusion in Algeria, particularly noting the evident reduction in formal financial account usage from 50.48% in 2014 to 35.3% in 2024. The reasons that contribute to the reduction include poorly developed banking systems, preference for cash transactions, low financial literacy levels, and cultural disapproval of interest-based finances. As a solution, the study proposes a dual strategy that involves the expansion of digital finance and agent banking along with creating an integrated Islamic banking system. It is a culturally relevant approach for establishing an inclusive financial sector within Algeria.
