Abstract
Abstract: Paratextual discourse, as one of the constituent elements of the paratext, forms a text alongside the body text proper. It surrounds the main text and brings into view its semantic resonances and aesthetic dimensions. Within the stream-of-consciousness novel, these paratextual elements emerge as semiotic signs endowed with multiple functions: they construct a horizon of expectation for the reader and provide visual and cognitive entry points into the world of the text. In this sense, the paratext becomes an integral part of the novelistic texture. Mohsen Ben Heniya’s Harbors of Madness offers a particularly rich instantiation of the stream-of-consciousness novel, marked by dense textual configurations in which cognitive and ideological perspectives intersect. This makes it especially fertile ground for semiotic analysis, given that semiotics remains one of the most effective critical approaches for eliciting the signifying force of the paratext. The present reading therefore turns to the semiotics of color, the signifying economy of the title, and the architecture of typography. From this perspective, textual configuration appears as a distinctive contribution to the field of novelistic experimentation, moving beyond mere typographic embellishment to become an active structural component that participates in the production of meaning, directs trajectories of reading, and frames the reception of the text. الملخص باللغة العربية: يشكل خطاب العتبات بوصفه أحد عناصر النص الموازي نصاً إلى جانب النص المتن ؛ يحيط به ليكشف دلالاته وأبعاده الجمالية ، وفي سياق رواية تيار الوعي، تبرز هذه العتبات كعلامات سيميائية ذات وظائف متعددة؛ إذ تخلق أفق انتظار لدى المتلقي، وتمنحه مفاتيح بصرية ومعرفية للولوج إلى عالم النص، ومن هنا، غدت هذه العتبات جزءاً لا يتجزأ من النسيج الروائي . تمثل رواية "مرافئ الجنون" للكاتب التونسي المحسن بن هنية نموذجاً تطبيقياً لـ (رواية تيار الوعي) غنياً بالتشكيلات النصية التي تتداخل فيها الرؤى المعرفية بالأيديولوجية، مما يجعلها مادة خصبة للتحليل السيميائي؛ باعتباره المنهج الأكثر كفاءة في استنطاق العتبات. وعليه تتجه المقاربة النقدية نحو تحليل لغة الألوان، و سيميائية العنوان و هندسة الخطوط؛ حيث يبرز هذا التشكيل النصي كإضافة نوعية في عالم التجريب الروائي، متجاوزاً كونه مجرد تزيين طباعي ليصبح مكوناً بنيوياً فاعلاً يسهم في صياغة المعنى وتوجيه مسارات القراءة وتأطير تلقي النص.
