The Sea And Legendary Propensities In Jamila Zenir’s Short-story Collection The Sea Nymph

Authors : Teggar Fouzia .

Abstract

Legend has long served writers as an inexhaustible source and a precise instrument for articulating the self, its affects, and lived experience with its prevailing values. Accordingly, critics have examined how legend shapes narrative poetics. In her short-story collection The Sea Nymph (Jinniyat al-Bahr), Jamila Zenir mobilizes this technique and fuses it with a second dominant motif, the sea. The seascape operates as a sustained preoccupation and as a mirror that reflects the tragedies of lived human experience.
