Abstract: This article examines to what extent artificial intelligence (AI) can act as an effective mechanism for predicting banking crises and managing banking risks. It argues that traditional risk forecasting tools have proven insufficient in a highly complex financial environment. Using an analytical descriptive and inductive approach, the study highlights how AI techniques particularly neural networks and intelligent algorithms enable banks to analyse vast amounts of structured and unstructured data and to detect hidden patterns linked to credit, market, liquidity, and operational risks. The findings show that AI can significantly enhance early warning capabilities, improve the quality of lending and fraud detection decisions, and support proactive, data‑driven risk management. The article concludes that realizing this potential requires appropriate digital infrastructure, skilled human resources, and robust ethical and regulatory frameworks.
