Abstract

Abstract: The activities of companies operating in sectors with substantial environmental and social impacts generate multiple repercussions for society and the environment. Consequently, these companies face growing pressure from governments, investors, and civil society organizations to disclose their environmental and social performance. This study aims to examine the role of social accounting in assessing sustainable social performance. A case study of Sonatrach Raffineria Italiana (2019–2023) revealed that social accounting outputs, including performance indicators and transparent reporting, help identify strengths and weaknesses, thereby supporting the improvement of social practices and promoting sustainable corporate behavior.
