The ethnographic method represents a cornerstone in anthropological studies, relying on participant observation and immersive engagement to understand culture from within. However, the digital revolution and the advancement of information and communication technologies have fundamentally transformed the nature of the ethnographic field. Research is no longer confined to traditional communities in their physical settings but now extends to virtual spaces provided by digital platforms and social networks. These transformations have created a new reality for anthropological research, where scholars examine digital interactions and technological symbols such as hashtags, emojis, images, and virtual identities as symbolic patterns reflecting emerging collective cultures. Digitization also allows ethnographers to access multiple fields simultaneously while providing extensive opportunities for data collection and analysis. This study focuses on the evolution of digital ethnography, highlighting the impact of technology on reshaping fieldwork practices and expanding the scope of ethnographic inquiry. It emphasizes that virtual interaction does not merely simulate physical presence but generates new epistemic opportunities to understand the cultural and social dynamics of digital communities.
